Wiped

I just love my sleeping kid.  I think they are actually created to pass out on the couch sometimes, so that moms replenish their soppy soft spot to hold in reserve for the days when simply saying "Good morning, sweetie" results in an epic meltdown because their name is "NOT SWEEEEEEEETIEEEEEEE!".

Yup, definitely for those times, I'll draw on this picture of angelic perfection...

Swimming Lesson - Week 4

Well, she swore up and down she didn't want to go to lessons this week - but Gramma arranged to come tonight... and the power of the Gramma is strong.  Instead of crying her entire lesson - like last week - she only shed a few tears and then got down to business.

See - We Do Stuff

Look here... some stuff we did this past week.  See we do stuff!

Play date disaster mess with Julia

Taking Cod for a trike ride

Practicing with the goggles in the tub

Putting the sauce on our salmon... in rubbers.

Pig tails... 3 years in the making.  That barrette was given to her at BIRTH.  First time she's humoured me and worn it.

Swimming Lesson - Week 3

Glubglubglub...

Well, the kid did a 180 this week - bawled her face off almost the whole lesson!  She was super excited all week for lessons, and she couldn't tell me why she was having a bad day.  Not sure how we'll make out next week... so far she's telling me she doesn't want to go swimmin' again.   Sigh.

And... we actually DO things other than swim once a week... perhaps my blog is a teensy bit neglected.  I'll post some pictures on Thursday.

Week 2 - Swimming Lessons

Shae rocked her second week of swimming lessons.  Bought her some googles (because she refused to wear them again this week) to practice wearing at home.  Tonight, the kid was holding her breath, goggles on, and "swimming" under water the length of the tub!  I'm so happy with Making Waves - they are really spectacular.

Next week, I'm going to watch from outside the pool - Shae has a habit of hopping from the pool to run to me for high fives.  I've been invited to take myself out of the pool room as a result.  We'll see how that goes!

Here's some video from this week - first one is floating, second is underwater exercises.  In the first video - note Shae checking out the new kid in her class... he did a LOT of crying.  I watched him as much as I watched Shae :)

Look At Us!

Wheee - it only took me a week - but I finally got the pictures from our session with Christine Miron Photography onto my computer.

I do.  I procrastinate with the champions.

Anyway - I'm in love with these!  Enjoy!

My Ariel

My kid!  My kid!

Never have I seen my daughter as a "kid" like I did at her first swimming lesson last night.  I've always been so up close and involved in her interactions with the world - it was incredible to sit back and see her take on "the world" on her own.  She's a kid now.  Not a baby.

I have her signed up at Making Waves in Brampton- chose private for a few reasons.  One - she's shy.  Two - she's never been excited to play and interact with a pile of new kids.  The 3:1 ratio was very appealing to me.  Three - she's just not excited by water or pools... I felt like she needed the PROs to get her into it.

She showed me!

This kid hesitated to go off with her instructor, Sarah, for about 1 second.  I told her, "Sarah actually KNOWS Ariel".  She was off.

Within 30 minutes, and ZERO tears - Sarah and the head instructor had her smiling, high fiving, hugging, handwalking the edge of the pool alone - and even UNDERWATER!  In addition, rather than 3 kids:1instructor - she got 1:2 - that's 2 instructors, 1 kid.  The other spots hadn't been filled yet.

Seriously - it couldn't have been a better start.  I'm so proud of her.  Waffled between smiling so huge the back of my head actually hurt, and tearing up.  She's so awesome.  Can't even believe I made her.

Some pictures:
Getting in - not going for the goggles.

Big smiles!

That's right - that blob underwater - MY KID!

Four Minutes

Today, we met with Christine Miron, of Christine Miron Photography to have our little family's photos done.   While that's what I really want to blog about... alas, it takes some time to get them back...

Patience is NOT a virtue I possess...

So, I give you - four minutes of ridiculous at our house.
